Puttenham Place was established in 2008 by Jenny Bingham to train and produce horses in the discipline of showjumping.
We believe each horse is an individual and we work on the most basic fundamental disciplines of “patience”, management, schooling and a varied work programme. A showjumper reaches its potential from the age of 9 and the production of a horse to this point is a long, often frustrating and methodical process. There should be no short cuts and at Puttenham we aim to cut no corners.
The horses are given the highest level of management, schooling and jump training. Each horse develops differently and their care and progress is judged to suit the individual horse. At Puttenham we buy well bred horses at 3, 4 or 5 and generally before they have started their training. We look for good blood lines, ability and also importantly temperament. We aim to capitalise on value. Between the team at Puttenham and our connections and competing in the showjumping circuit we keep a careful eye on possible stock.
We produce the young horses carefully building up their training and competition program to suit the development of each horse.
A testament to our early work at Puttenham is the brilliant mare Wembley III who has set her stamp on the business. She achieved many consistent successes to include 2nd in the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses as a five year old, 3rd in the HOYS six year old championship and 2nd in the HOYS Foxhunter as a seven year old. In 2013 we bred from Wembley as we hope to continue her great blood lines and ability onto the next generation.
